Thank you for taking the time to check us out! We know first hand how important choosing a physician for your new baby can be.
We would be more than happy to have you come by our office for a short meet-n-greet with Dr. Kushwaha and her staff. This is just a time to introduce yourself to Dr. K, inform her of any pertinent family medical history and any complications with the pregnancy and/or baby. This is also an opportunity get to know Dr. K's personality a little and take a tour of our office. We schedule these on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 1:45pm.
For any in depth questions that you may have and that are not answered here or other places on our website, please use the
Contact Us tab on the left-hand side of our webpage to send your questions via email.
Here are some questions that we get asked regularly:
1) What are your hours of operation? We are open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9am to 5pm.
Wednesdays we are open from 9am to 12pm and Fridays from 9am to 4pm.
We take our lunch from 12pm to 1:3opm.
On Wednesday, if you feel your child needs to see Dr. K, please call first thing in the morning. This rings true to all days. If you call the office in the morning, we can get you on the schedule. If you wait until we're back from lunch, it will be harder to get in, but we will try our hardest!
2) What if I need to speak to the nurse or doctor after business hours or on the weekend? This is a very good question! And it can be answered by clicking
After Hours Needs on the left-hand side tab.
3) There's a lot of information out there about vaccines and I still have some questions. Can you point me in the right direction? Also, does Dr. K do alternate schedules for vaccines and can she split them? There definitely is a lot of information going around about vaccines. Here at Dr. K's Kids we have a vaccine policy in place. Please review this policy. (Click:
HERE) At the bottom of our vaccine policy page is a list of great resources about vaccines. If you have questions, please visit those pages. They are very resourceful. Please note, we do not allow alternative scheduling and/or split vaccines.
4) What do I need to do after the baby is born? Do I need to call the office or will the hospital let you know? And when does Dr. K come to see us? Where does she have rights? After you've confirmed with our front office that you have chosen us, the only thing you need to do is let the hospital know. This is done normally when you are admitted into labor/delivery. Dr. K only has rights at Baylor Grapevine. Once the baby is born and the nurses do an exam, they will call our office and give us the report on the baby. Dr. K will come see you guys within the first 24 hours of life.
5) I'm giving birth at a hospital other than Baylor Grapevine. What do I do?You will need to use the pediatrician on-call at the hospital you are delivering at. Please call our office when you know when you'll be discharged. Be prepared to give us any information about your child (issues with feeding, jaundice, etc.). That will help us decide when we need to follow-up with you. Also, be prepared with your insurance information. When you are discharged, you will be given a discharge summary, please bring that with you to your first appointment with us!!
We're hoping these have answered your questions. Please feel free to use the Contact Us feature to email us anymore questions you may have.
