Flu Vaccine Information

The seasonal flu vaccine has arrived. Please call our office to schedule a nurse appointment.  The insurance will be billed for the service.

The flu pediatric vaccines we are administering this year are Thimerosal Free.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended that everybody age 6 months and older be vaccinated against the flu. In addition to all children, the following groups are considered high-risk and should be vaccinated against the flu:

  • Any parent or caregiver of young children.
  • Adults 50 years of age or older.
  • People with history of wheezing, asthma, or other chronic
              medical conditions.
  • Most women who are or will be pregnant during the flu season.

We will be offering both the Injectable and Nasal Spray versions of the flu vaccine to our patients.  There are certain restrictions on who can receive the Nasal Spray Flu Vaccine and the Injectable Flu Vaccine, so please be sure to read the vaccine information sheet (mentioned above) on the vaccine you wish to receive before scheduling your appointment.

Parents & Caretakers: We will be offering the injectable flu vaccine to parents and caretakers of our patients, while supplies last.  We encourage all parents and caregivers to receive the flu vaccine. Not only will this protect those individuals from the flu, it will significantly protect their children from flu exposure as well. We are offering this service as a convenience to our patient’s families. Payment is expected at the time of service and we will not bill your insurance for the service.  We will provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance if you would like to try to get reimbursed, but we cannot guarantee your insurance will cover the service.  Please call our clinic to schedule an appointment.

Flu Booster Vaccine: Children 6 months - 8 years of age who have not been vaccinated previously are recommended to receive 2 doses, at least 28 days apart, the first year they get vaccinated.

I strongly support this recommendation. Please do not delay in getting you and your child vaccinated. I look forward to working with you to help ensure that you and your family have a “flu-free” flu season.
